MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN

MDT deploys first underground WIRELESS monitoring system!

The first system was successfully deployed this week with real-time data streaming to surface. Newtrax Technologies (www.newtrax.com) customized their standard wireless node to read MDT's SMART instruments (up to 3 instruments per node!). The underground network (MineTrax) runs at 900MHz, forms a self-identifying, self-healing mesh and runs for years on batteries! MineTrax can also be used for men and vehicle tracking, and ventilation on demand. ESG Symposium a success!

ESG's "Monitoring and Ground Instabilities: Challenges and Solutions" symposium was held in Kingston June 1 to 3, 2010, and MDT was there, displaying our current and up-and-coming products. Attendees from around the world shared their thoughts and learned about ESG's new product lines. MDT was able to demonstrate the how our SMARTremote systems can take advantage of the backbone of ESG's Paladin systems, and how our data can be displayed in ESG's SeisVis software. The good working arrangement between the two companies was further enhanced by this event.

SMARTremote system commissioned at Meikle Mine

MDT has installed a SMARTremote Data Acquisition System at Barrick's Meikle Mine in Nevada. The system is monitoring a series of MPBX's in a critical area underground, with data streaming to surface via Ethernet. Kudos to the staff at Meikle for doing such a great job with the installation!

Adam Dulmage joins MDT

Adam Dulmage has recently joined MDT as our field technologist. Adam brings many years of experience in system installations in underground mining projects. His experience in electronics and networking will assist MDT in maintaining our expanding base of SMARTremote systems. Welcome aboard, Adam!
